The Best Practices in University Teaching (BPUT) workshop, offered by the Center for Teaching Excellence and Innovation, provides faculty and instructional staff with a comprehensive introduction to evidence-based teaching strategies used across Johns Hopkins and peer institutions. This two-day, in-person program is designed to strengthen instructional effectiveness across disciplines by grounding participants in proven pedagogical approaches that support student learning and engagement.

The workshop explores foundational teaching principles, active learning strategies, assessment design, course planning, and inclusive classroom practices.
