Connection in 15 seconds: Building Your Networking Introduction
Why is good networking important? A strong professional introduction will make a good impression on people you meet throughout your career. You may be at a work event with other faculty across JHU, networking at an industry event, or meeting a new leader or mentor. Often, you only have a few moments to grab someone’s attention and make yourself relatable and memorable.
What’s important to remember about networking is that it’s not about trying to gain benefit now, because you never know exactly when that person will be able to help you or you’ll be able to help them. It’s like planting seeds, you don’t know when things might grow, so you plant as many seeds as possible.
The L.A.D. Academy hosted a 10-minute Microlearning session to help you craft a concise, impactful introduction that clearly communicates who you are and what you do–perfect for networking events, meetings, and professional opportunities. We invite you to explore the resources that were part of that session, and start building your intro today!
