Publishing a Research Paper: 2nd Edition is a Nature Masterclasses course designed to help researchers strengthen their understanding of scholarly publishing and improve their chances of publication success. Through flexible lessons and expert guidance, the course provides practical strategies for navigating submission requirements, peer review, revisions, and editorial expectations.
Participants will learn how to:
- Understand journal editorial guidance, submission requirements, and publishing policies
- Format manuscripts appropriately and write stronger submission materials, including cover letters
- Navigate editorial review and peer review processes and interpret editorial decisions
- Revise manuscripts effectively and respond to reviewer comments with confidence
- Understand options following rejection and identify strategies for resubmission or alternative publication pathways
- Follow self-archiving and embargo policies to appropriately share published research
The course includes six hours of learning across three modules and is informed by researchers, Nature Portfolio editors, and publishing experts with experience across the scientific publishing process.
