Career Advancement
JHU is deeply invested in the long-term success of our faculty. Professional development tools are essential in creating a positive trajectory for faculty across the enterprise, though your journey may not mirror those of your peers. For some faculty, this will include promotion and tenure. Others may seek administrative roles such as department chair or program director. Many faculty members are looking for ways to expand their external reputation and recognition in their field. You may also be interested in growing the service aspects of the faculty role, such as chairing a committee or serving on an interdisciplinary board. The L.A.D. Academy is committed to connecting you with peers and advisors to help you on your career journey, as well as providing upskilling and networking opportunities to build your portfolio and help you move forward.
The JHU CME and L.A.D. Academy co-sponsored Clifton Strengths professional program provided me with foundational insight into my own strengths and how I might leverage them in my career at Hopkins. The one-on-one coaching session was especially helpful in providing guidance about operationalizing these strengths in an organizational context. I highly recommend it to early-career faculty as they begin their professional journeys and are seeking to identify their professional value and opportunities for growth.
